This year, LFS is intensifying its game in the international chess scene by competing in two major leagues: the International Schools Online Chess League (ISOCL) and the SCA. With 45 passionate players, the team isn’t just here to play—they’re here to win, improve, and proudly represent the school. The competition is fierce, and we’re ready to take it on!
Chess: More Than Just a Game
Chess is a true mental sport that helps our students sharpen their focus, decision-making under pressure, and ability to think several moves ahead. It’s a fantastic way to teach them how to anticipate, accept failure, and build patience.
At LFS, our mission is clear: to instill values of strategy, teamwork, and respect while building self–confidence.
Recap of Our Recent Major Home Competition
In March, LFS hosted its very first big chess competition from the SCA league, and the atmosphere was electric.
“It was complete silence in the room, with only the ticking of the clocks marking the pace of each game, adding to the intensity of every move. At table 3, an LFS player prepares for his move. He stays calm, despite the adrenaline. After sacrificing a piece, his opponent seems to gain the upper hand—but he’s missing the hidden strategy. Two moves later… checkmate.”

The competition was a chance for our students to showcase their skills, experience fair play, and refine their strategies.
