🔹 A Festive Kickoff in Yangpu 🔹
After a beautiful opening ceremony on the Qingpu piazza, it was Yangpu’s turn to join the celebration with a heartwarming start! The 2nd grade students stole the show with a song performance, setting the stage for a month filled with sharing and discovery.
🔹 Adventure-Packed Orienteering Races 🔹
Reading maps, deciphering clues, and tracking down hidden treasures in the school hallways… Our students jumped headfirst into the Francophonie orienteering challenges! This fun-filled adventure was the perfect way to boost their vocabulary while having a blast.
🔹 Quiz Masters in Action 🔹
The Francophonie quizzes brought out our students’ competitive spirit! Answering fast and accurately was the name of the game, and they impressed us all with their knowledge of French while picking up new words along the way.
🔹 A Special Visit from Poet Gaultier Roux 🔹
As part of Poets’ Spring, the Month of Francophonie took on an extra special touch with a visit from Gaultier Roux, a bilingual poet and lecturer at Fudan University. For an hour, about thirty students sat down with him to talk about poetry, his inspirations, and his creative process—before giving it a go themselves in a hands-on writing workshop.
🔹 The Ultimate Dictation Challenge 🔹
What better way to test your French skills than with a classic dictation? Gathered in the school cafeterias, our students took on the challenge with focus and determination, navigating tricky grammar rules and exceptions like pros.
🔹 Welcoming French learners from Macau 🔹
We had the pleasure of welcoming 8th-grade students from Macau Anglican College, who are learning French, for an enriching immersion in our language and culture. On the agenda: French classes, exchanges with new Francophone friends, and wonderful discoveries on both sides. An unforgettable experience for them and great encounters for our students, who broaden their horizons through these exchanges!
🔹 Celebrating Tintin with the Belgian Consulate 🔹
To wrap up the month, we teamed up with the Consulate General of Belgium in Shanghai and the Benelux Chamber of Commerce for a special Tintin-themed event! Comic book lovers got the chance to dive into original illustrations of the famous reporter and celebrate this cornerstone of Francophone culture.
This Month of Francophonie was a whirlwind of activities, laughter, and learning, giving our students a chance to experience the richness of the French language in all its forms. But Francophonie doesn’t end in March! We’ll keep celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity throughout the year with exciting new projects and inspiring encounters.
