Ready to dive in? With the renovations of the Qingpu swimming pool complete, we are happy to highlight our beautiful aquatic complex, shared with the DSS, which reopened this month, introducing its lot of upgrades!
Among the changes to be noted, the impermeability of the swimming pool was replaced, and non-slip tiles were laid around the pools to strengthen the security of our swimmers.
The swimming pool benefits from subfloor heating, modern changing rooms, showers in the footbaths, starting blocks accredited for competitions, and a scoring screen, offering us an electronic time system.
These last two elements are a strong added value, making our swimming pool one of the best equipped among Shanghai international schools. We look forward to hosting future official competitions!
“With the delay of renovations due to the lockdown, it is thanks to the involvement of the dedicated teams of the LFS and the DSS, who worked throughout summer, that the swimming pool was able to reopen after the Golden Week, despite the difficult sanitary context. It was a real challenge we took on!”
Livia Rafidison, Director of Operations
Our aquatic director, Bryan Roussel, shared with us his insights on these new settings and what they mean for our students and for competitive swimming:
“For many years, our school has been involved in the different sports leagues ofShanghai international schools (SSSA, SISAC, SSL…). The competitive swimming team of the LFS participates each year in official competitions organised within Shanghai, Suzhou, or Nanjing international schools, gathering sometimes over 800 swimmers in one weekend. Today and after the renovations made this summer, our swimming pool possesses a high-end equipment (electronic time system, FINA-accredited diving board, scoring screen), enabling us to host official competitions within the Shanghai Swimming League. Students are already excited and look forward to begin our Eurocampus Swimming Championship very soon.“
We look forward to seeing our students thrive in swimming!
