At Shanghai French School, students, parents, and our staff can benefit from more than 10 language certifications, which strengthen applications to reputed universities and schools abroad, but also act as an added source of motivation in language learning.
The HSK (open to Secondary students, staff, and parents) and the YCT (Youth Chinese Test, open to 5th Graders) are the two Chinese types of exams offered at Shanghai French School, with 1 to 5 sessions a year on both Qingpu and Yangpu campuses.
Since the school year 2020-2021, around 86% of our candidates have successfully passed an HSK certificate, including around 8% who passed the HSK 6.
English language exams and certifications only concern students who are in either SEA (European Stream) or SIA (American International Stream) and are divided within two organisations:
– The Cambridge certifications, attesting A1 to B2 levels: since the school year 2020-2021, 400 candidates have successfully passed one of the Cambridge certifications.
– The IGCSE exam from Pearson Edexcel, dedicated to 10th Graders in SIA or SEA: with 100% passing rate, around 90% of our students pass the IGCSE with a top grade A or B.
The DELF certification from A1 to B2 level mostly concerns students following the FLSco programme and for whom French is not necessarily the mother tongue.
For the students who wish to pass a Spanish certification, Shanghai French School gives them the opportunity to pass the DELE, from A1 to B1 school level.
One session is organised every year on Qingpu campus for these levels. Some of our students have also been able to register to the B2 level directly with the Cervantes Institute.
In collaboration with the Goethe Institute, the GOETHE exams are organised directly in their Shanghai office.
Mastering languages to think, communicate and act is one of the major axes of Shanghai French School’s school project, to which our rich offer of language certifications actively contributes.
