At Shanghai French School, the “Female Lead Society” club members and their coordinators organised a day dedicated to women from the past and present who fought to access scientific studies and careers and celebrate this first national and international edition of the event “They move for their future”, an event initiated by the association “Elles bougent” (“They move”).
Within the equality project between boys and girls supported by the AEFE, students worked over the last few weeks to create and realise posters highlighting women of all generations who succeeded in the science world.
Yesterday afternoon, all the girls from Grade 9 to Grade 12 in Qingpu gathered in the theatre to evaluate the current tendencies of our students’ choice of studies in Secondary and after graduation.
They also received a personalised message from Frédérique Vidal, the French Minister for Higher Education, Research, and Innovation, who acknowledged Shanghai French School initiative and the “Female Lead Society” club members.
Students then exchanged live with 5 female scientists, 3 engineers and 2 researchers, the opportunity to break barriers and learn more about the possible paths, the obstacles encountered but most importantly, to realise that nothing is impossible.
A big thank you to students and their coordinators for this rich event and interesting exchanges!
