On Thursday, December 10, the Shanghai French School and German School Shanghai took part in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, of which they are members. It was important for our two schools to display on this occasion the two Eurocampuses and the values of openness, tolerance and solidarity that we share.
On this occasion, the Franco-German orchestra of the Eurocampus, led by music teachers Mr Christophe Gizycki and Mr Jochen Abert, celebrated Europe by playing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy”, but also animated the evening with other pieces of music such as the popular “sleigh ride”, of circumstance as the Christmas holidays are getting near.
As Nicolas Chapuis, Ambassador of the European Union to China, stressed on this occasion, education is an essential sector of exchanges between the EU and China, as well as a prerequisite for enabling the business community to develop.
In the presence of Mrs. Zong Ming, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, Mr. Jörg Wuttke, President of the European Chamber, and nearly 330 participants representing about 100 companies, the LFS and the DSS celebrated in music a friendship and a shared educational project that has already lasted for 25 years.
